 Let me start by saying I hate Polls.  Especially polls that are not statistically based.  I don't know for sure if The Circuit top 25 poll is opinion or statistically based, but my guess is that it is put together by experts, and while experts know a lot about the teams they rate, there are a lot of teams that they overlook. So, I am not trying to dish The Circuit poll.  I am not trying to dish the teams that are in the top 25 that I don't think belong there.  What I would hope to do is raise awareness of the teams that are NOT on the top 25 list that really BELONG there. You might ask, "What the hell does Gramps know about these teams?"  Well, I have analyzed close to 2000 of those teams and all of the top Circuit teams with my "Sagarin" style algorithm.  I used the same algorithm for every Missouri boys and girls high school team this past winter and predicted 80% of the winners from districts to regionals to the state championships.  80%! and ...

 Here are my Gramps Braggin Rights 17U boys basketball ratings as of June 7th.  There may be some pretenders in here but the ratings are coming together with more game comparisons. Click HERE to see how teams rate in their respective league. Note: If two teams compete, the difference in rating should be the predicted spread for the game.

  I continue to update Gramps Braggin Rights Ratings for as many teams as I can find results.  I still have a number of top teams that are missing game results.  I don't know if The Circuit hasn't picked up their games, the teams have not played yet or they just won't be in the leagues this summer. I don't mind a positive shoutout or message if you have game results and they don't appear.  If you see a team you beat above you, let me know the score and the tournament link and I will check them out. Nike EYBL still has the top league rating with UAA and Adidas following up in 2nd and 3rd. There are some great teams in each league with barely a couple of points difference in the top five.  Like I said before, you could drop the top five in a hat and pick out a #1 and it would be a solid pick.  July tournaments will sort out the Braggin Rights. I am a new man.  After years of having a heart rate in the low 40's, my heart rate dropped into the low 30's in May and I just had a pacemaker installed and I feel great.  I guess this is the year to fix everything after lying low for the last year. So, after spending six weeks in a boot for corrective foot surgery, I was just getting into good golf form when the heart started acting up.  So now, with the pacemaker, I have to lie low for another six weeks before I can start swinging a club again.  Such is life. This weekend, I was working on my Gramps Braggin Rights ratings and getting text updates on the MAYB Cape Girardeau tournament where my third oldest grandson was playing with Peewee Leonard's Magic 2024.  They have a pretty decent squad with about two-thirds of the team coming from Eureka's outstanding freshman group (16-3 last winter).  Peewee has an outstanding 16U team too.  There have been a number of high-powered tournaments in my old home town and Minnesota teams seem to be doing well in the various circuit league standings. So, who's the best right now in Minnesota?  Minnesota Heat Herbst won the NHR State Championship D2 division and Minnesota Select Ohnstad won the D1 division.  But are they the best teams in the state? I have been pulling together all the Circuit leagues (check out the ratings HERE ) and tracking each state.  All of the ratings are based on a head-to-head and comparative rating algorithm.   I have also posted the top 1000 17U US teams HERE . Here's how I see Minnesota 17U right now.
